Make Music Madison
What is Make Music Madison?
It is a free, citywide day of music every June 21st. We are part of Make Music Day, a celebration that occurs in 1,000+ cities across the globe. Madison began participating in 2013 and now boasts one of the largest events in the country. Parks, porches, restaurants, shops, worship spaces and more fill with music for all to enjoy! Last year we hosted our first Make Music Madison event and had a great time with friends and neighbors old and new! This year we are offering it again but collaborating with Community Schools and the Madison Area Music Association (MAMAs). The MAMAs will bring the musicians and instruments for a musical instrument petting zoo that will run from noon to 3! Community Schools will provide the students and families to enjoy the music!
Since this falls on Father’s day this year, consider bringing dad along and enjoy some music and community!
The Lineup:
12:00-12:45; The Madison Area Music Association (TheMAMAs.org) is a non-profit focused on youth music support. Volunteers will be talking about, demonstrating and guiding kids in how to play various instruments from drums & electric guitars to strings, woodwind, and brass! This musical instrument petting zoo is free and fun! Maybe a lifelong interest in music will come out of this! Did you know that by playing an instrument, your IQ increases?!

2:00-3:00: Angela Puerta Band- is a vibrant bridge between cultural worlds. Their performances are a lively mix of Latin beats, Colombian folkloric melodies, and beloved tunes in both English and Spanish, promising to get audiences dancing and grooving. Angela also regularly performs at La Taguara on Thursday evenings!

Piggy-backing off of Make Music Madison, we want to extend the invitation to walk over and enjoy three more evenings of FREE music! Bring a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic dinner, and relax & mingle with your neighbors while enjoying free local bands/ music!!
